Todi is a very famous, easy but a serious raag. This raag has become such an inseparable part of Loksangeet (folk music) that one hears its notes in various folk songs. It is well known that a singer would sing Todi in the King’s Darbars and would receive abundant gifts. Gurbani stresses on praising only the One (God), so that this worldly being does not have to run from pillar to post (worldly doors). One hears of about 21 types of Todi’s . All those who cling to the worldly supports are unhappy but whosoever holds the robe of God becomes carefree. “Beparvaah sadaa rangi hari kai ja ko paakhu suami”
